Director: Yves Cherel

Disciplines: Ecology, Agro-ecology, Bio-logging, Physiology, Genetic, Statistics and modeling, Eco-toxicology

Located in the department of Deux-Sèvres, in the heart of the Chizé forest, the CEBC (UMR 7372 La Rochelle Université – CNRS) works on the knowledge on the ecology of wild animals confronted with the disturbances of their natural environment.

Its research focuses on the evolution of local populations of mammals, reptiles and birds as well as that of marine predators of the French Southern and Antarctic Territories (TAAF).

Research Centre for Atlantic and International History (CRHIA)

Consult the websiteDownload the laboratory’s file

Director: Cécile Chantraine Braillon

Disciplines: History, Civilizations, Anthropology, Languages, Literature

Considered as a national and international reference on Atlantic history and the history of cultural exchanges and international relations, the CRHIA Research center conducts research at the crossroads between the maritime area and the continental French, European and global spaces. Its core subject is “Seas and coastlines”.

The members of the CRHIA of La Rochelle Université study more particularly the exchanges and circulations of men and ideas between Europe, Asia and the “new worlds” (the Americas, Oceania), but also international relations, identities, from the modern era to today.

Environment Organization LEgislation (EOLE)

Director: Guillaume Delalieux

Discipline: Legal and management.

EOLE‘s scientific activity focuses on themes at the crossroads of the expertise of lawyers (publicists, privatists and legal historians) and managers.

Asian Dynamics, Interactions and Intercultuurality (D2ia)

La Rochelle Université and Bordeaux Montaigne University

Director : David Waterman

Disciplines : Languages, literatures and cultures of Asia, Geopolitics, History, Didactics.

The D2iA Research Unit aims to: Bring together researchers and create a regional research center on Asia-Pacific topics; Develop research projects promoting interdisciplinary and comparative approaches; Offer our researchers better integration into international networks; Transfer knowledge to the economic-institutional and cultural fabric of the New Aquitaine region; Create research partnerships with actors in the economic and cultural spheres.

Laboratory of Informatics Image Interaction (L3I)

Director: Yacine Ghrami- Doudane Mohamed

Disciplines: Computer Science, Computer engineering, Automation, Signal processing

L3i is the computer science research laboratory of La Rochelle Université.

It brings together researchers in computer science from the Institute of Technology and the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies.

Focusing on the issue of interactive and intelligent management of digital content, the work of its members focuses on the national and European socio-economic issues related to this very promising field of research.

Laboratory of Engineering Sciences for the Environment (LaSiE)

Consult the websiteDownload the laboratory’s file

Director: Xavier Faugeas

Discipline: Engineering

The Laboratory of Engineering Sciences for the Environment is a Joint Research Unit (UMR 7356 La Rochelle Université – CNRS) whose themes concern the transfer of mass and energy in materials and inhabited spaces, covering large scales of space and time. Bringing together a wide range of skills in the field of environmental engineering (mathematics, physics, civil engineering, chemistry and mechanics), the LaSIE analyze the durability and protection of materials, structures and infrastructures, subject to environmental constraints. The Laboratory also works to improve the thermal, the comfort and indoor air quality in buildings.

Littoral, Environment and Society (LIENSs)

Consult the websiteDownload the laboratory’s file

Director: Valérie Ballu

Disciplines: Biology, Ecology, Ecophysiology, Ecotoxicology, Earth sciences, Geophysics, Geography, History chemistry and Biotechnology, Law, Political sciences

The LIENSs laboratory is an Interdisciplinary Joint Research Unit (UMRi 7266 La Rochelle Université CNRS). The laboratory puts interdisciplinarity at the service of sustainable development issues related to the coastline.

It integrates the skills of many disciplines that range from environmental sciences to human sciences through chemistry and biotechnology.

Its research focuses in particular on the functioning of the coastal system, its evolution in a context of global change and increasing urbanization of the coasts, its use and its sustainable exploitation.

Mathematics Image and Application (MIA Lab)

Consult the websiteDownload the laboratory’s file

Director: Catherine Choquet

Discipline: Mathematics

The scientific activity of the MIA covers both classical theoretical issues for a mathematics laboratory and applicative issues arising from major societal challenges.

The laboratory’s two areas of excellence, image, video and data processing and analysis and human-scale environmental modelling, closely combine multidisciplinary skills.

Digital Uses for Sustainable Development (NUDD)

Director: Jeanne Lallement

Discipline: Digital

NUDD brings together research on digital technologies, uses, practices and business models. NUDD aims to observe, understand and analyse all the economic, social and organisational transformations made possible by digital technology.

PELAGIS Observatory

Consult the websiteDownload the laboratory’s file

Director: Florent Caurant, Jérôme Spitz

Discipline: Ecology

PELAGIS is a joint service unit (UMS 3462 La Rochelle Université – CNRS). It conducts observation and expertise programs on marine mammals and seabirds for their conservation

In addition, it manages the databases associated with these various research programs.

The link of the Observatory with the Centre de Biologie de Chizé (CEBC) facilitates research studies and development based on these monitoring data.

PoLiCEMIES

Director: Diego Jarak, Annabel Audureau

Discipline: Cultural studies, visual studies, political science, French and foreign literature

The PoLiCEMIES research unit aims to :

  • Bring together researchers in the arts, culture, politics and literature
  • Carry out multidisciplinary research projects for a holistic understanding of societal transitions
  • Study the emergence and circulation of artistic, cultural and literary productions in the LUDI (Littoral Urbain Durable et Intelligent) context.
  • Observe and analyze societal transformations opened up by the dual challenge of sustainable coastlines and cultural transitions.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of research-creation and research-action projects related to creation, contemporary cultural practices, scientific mediation and participatory research.
