The equality on campus project

Equality on campus is the main event on equality at La Rochelle Université organized by students and for students.

WHAT IS EQUALITY ON CAMPUS?

Who is it?

Equality on Campus is first and foremost a student project of 4 to 5 students that started in September 2021. It is supervised by Elodie Chazalon, vice-president of quality of life at work and equality, and by Caroline Grand, director of communication at the University. It is above all a student project by students and for students, but it aims to involve everyone, including the outside public.

Its objectives?

To make the university community (students and staff) aware of equality in the broadest sense (sexist and sexual violence, deconstruction of gender stereotypes, gender diversity in training, professional equality, etc.) and of the existing mechanisms for students and staff, at the University or in the region.

At La Rochelle Université, for example, there is a listening and support relay which allows witnesses and/or victims of violence or discrimination to report to a team trained to listen.

How can this be done?

Through a special event organized every year at the beginning of March. The idea is to bring together the university community and the public of La Rochelle around festive and educational events, and to strengthen the links with our institutional partners in the area. The program of the half-day is intended to vary each year, but always with conviviality and sharing as priorities.

For the first edition, no less than 12 partners came to talk about violence in the festive environment, and 4 associations proposed playful and participative workshops in the university library. The evening ended at the CGR Les Minimes with the screening of the film “Les Chatouilles”, with the presence of the main actress and co-director Andréa Bescond and Eric Métayer, who came to discuss with the audience and to attend the prize-giving ceremony for the student contest “Equality on campus”.
